Dora Burns, embalmer and funeral director, was born and raised in Poplar Bluff. A 1995 graduate of Poplar Bluff Senior High, she attended Three Rivers Community College (TRCC) before going to mortuary school. She graduated from St. Louis, Missouri Mortuary program in 2003 and was awarded the Missouri Funeral Directors Association (MFDA) scholarship both years. She is also licensed preneed agent.
Dora got her start at a funeral home in St. Louis, where she worked both years of mortuary school. Then came home to Poplar Bluff, and split her apprenticeship between two local funeral homes. She has been with Fowler-Sullivan since 2007.
She and her husband, Bryan, have been married for thirteen years and have a 6 year old boy and a 2 month old boy. Bryan is a shift commander at Butler County Fire Department. They both are proud members of Temple Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. Dora is an assistant Sunday School teacher for 2 year olds, in charge of the door greeting program, on the nursing home ministry team, and serves as a backup on the home-bound visitation program.
She enjoys the kids, boating, fishing, off roading and reading, but above all she enjoys serving the Lord and the community.
