Ira Lawrence Melton, 64, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Melton was born June 2, 1950 in Poplar Bluff to the late Ira Melton Jr. and Mary Jane Kenner-Braun. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church where he was lead usher, Royal Ambassador Leader and sound technician. He worked IT department at R-1 Schools for 40 years. He enjoyed trains, genealogy, fishing, and his granddaughters.
On July 8, 1973 he married Sheila Bird in St. Louis, who survives.
Other survivors include his children, Loren Melton and Mindy Lampe (Austin); one sister, Melanie Cogswell (Joe) and brother, Charles Braun (Joyce); his granddaughters, Sophia Spell and Bella Lampe.
Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2014 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Rev.
