Madge Sample

Madge Wright Sample, 94, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at her home.

She was born May 1, 1920 in Cape Girardeau to the late James E. Wright and Della Mae (Martin)Wright. On Feb. 18, 1939 she married Henry A. Sample. He preceded her in death in 1983.

Mrs. Sample is survived by her children, Saundra Sample, Carol Fauss, Kay (Dennis) Smothers, Darlene (Alan) Lohmann, and Joe Henry (Marla) Sample; 2 sisters, Shirley Thomas and Phyllis Conyers; 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 brothers, 5 sisters, 1 son-in-law and 1 granddaughter.

Mrs. Sample was a charter member of Cape First Assembly of God. In 2007, she moved to Poplar Bluff and attended Bluff First Assembly of God. For 45 years she worked for the shoe factory in Cape Girardeau; Brown Shoe, International, and Florsheim Shoe Co.

Madge lived her life centered on God, family and church. She leaves behind a heritage of faith to the generation that follows and will be remembered not only for her faithfulness to God, but for her quick smile, great sense of humor and love for others.

Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Cape First Assembly of God, Silver Springs Road, Cape Girardeau, Mo. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., at the church, with Rev. Gary Brothers and Rev. Dan Martin officiating. Burial will be in New Lorimer Cemetery, Cape Girardeau, Mo.
