Melvin Spencer Obituary


Melvin Spencer, 69, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Friday, July 11, 2014, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 16, 1944 in Butler County to George and Betty (Wilson) Spencer.

Mr. Spencer was a lifelong resident of Butler County and never married. He worked in feed sales for Kings Farm Center.

His hobbies were hunting, fishing, and gardening. He also enjoyed caring for animals and loved spending time with his family.

Mr. Spencer is survived by one sister, Jewell Birdsong of Harviell, Mo., two brothers, Elvin Spencer and George Spencer, Jr., both of Harviell and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle Anderson, his lifelong companion, two sisters, Carolyn Daves and Mary Brooks, and two brothers, Donald G. Spencer and Bill Spencer.

Visitation took place at 11 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2014 with funeral service following at 1 p.m. with Pastor Bobby Brooks officiating.

Burial was held at Kinsey Cemetery in Harviell, Mo.
