Robert Oscar Woodard, 89, of Naylor, Mo., died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. He was born Sept. 19, 1925 in Naylor and was lifelong resident of Ripley County.
He was married to Peggy Ward in February 1948 and had one son, Doug Woodard, who preceded him in death on Jan. 17, 2006, and one daughter, Brenda Kay Woodard, who preceded him in death on Dec. 11, 1955.
Mr. Woodard was a U.S. Arm Veteran who served in World War II. He attended Naylor Methodist Church and was a trustee on the church board as well as a Sunday School Teacher. Mr. Woodard enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, horses, farming, being on Current River and attending Naylor School ballgames.
He is survived by a sister, Ruth Holderfield, of Poplar Bluff; and sister-in-law, Betty Abernathy of Naylor. He is also survived by grandchildren Mark Woodard and his wife Tina of Naylor; Natalie Murdock and her husband Brad of Springfield, Mo.; Amy Thompson and her husband CD of Siloam Springs, Ark.; and great-grandchildren: Dalton, Austin, Shelby, Anna Grace ad Gray.
Besides his children, also preceding him in death are his parents, Cleve Woodard and Sadie Barfield Woodard, one sister Wilma Blackwell, one brother Carlton Woodard and one grandson Lyle Baccus.
Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014 at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville, Mo. The funeral will be at noon on Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with burial in Naylor Memorial Cemetery.
