Ted Lamar Gorman, 93 of Poplar Bluff passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020 at his residence.
Mr. Gorman was born April 7, 1926 in Poplar Bluff. In 1943 he joined the Navy and served aboard the USS Lexington until 1947. Following the war he went to work for the Missouri Pacific Railroad where he worked for over forty years.
On October 13, 1950 he married Georgia Belle Sutton who preceded him in death April 10, 2005. Also preceding him in death was a son, David Lynn Gorman in April 2001.
Mr. Gorman was a member of the Third Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Masons, the Odd Fellows Lodge, Southeast Missouri Sportsmans Association and a long time member of the Lake Road Volunteer Fire Department where he was former President of Lake Road Fire Dept. Nothing was more important to Ted than his family and Church.
He is survived by daughter, Lamarta Kerr and husband Robert of Poplar Bluff, four grandchildren, Jennifer Scott of Clarksville, TN, Jonathan Kerr and wife Amber of Poplar Bluff, Christina Hopper and husband Chris, Cindy Brackett and husband Bo all of Poplar Bluff. Eight great-grandchildren, Shelby, Emily, Maggy Barber all of Clarksville, TN, Jessica, Michael and Melea Kerr, Emily Nelson and Ethan Gorman all of Poplar Bluff. Three great-great-grandchildren, Temperance, Avis and Ava Kerr.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 8, 2020 from 12 pm to 1:30 pm at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. A masonic service will begin at 1:30 in the funeral home chapel then we will go to Woodlawn Cemetery for the 2 pm funeral service at the graveside with Rev. James Capps officiating. Burial will be with full military honors.
