Mary Evelyn Wilkerson

Mary Evelyn Wilkerson, 87, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., peacefully walked her last mile on earth Saturday, November 14, 2015, passing away at her home. Mrs. Wilkerson was born October 25, 1928, in Benton, Ill., to the late Arlene and Dollie Mae (Burlison) Sandusky. She was a member of Bluff City Apostolic Worship Center. She had worked at American Superstore and was "Nana" to Kim and Wayne Marquis and family. She loved taking care of her dog, Skeeter and going to church. She had been a pastor's wife and a mother. She loved reading her Bible, gardening and visiting her dear friend, Grover "Scotty" Scott. She was married to the Rev. Harry Wilkerson on July 28, 1945, in Mount Vernon, Ill. He preceded her in death March 4, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mona Lee Wilkerson, Wanda Mae Sandusky, Wilma Ann Reynolds, Lois Jane Spears and Ruby Arlene Pasquino and one brother, Charles Edward Sandusky. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Stafford) LaDean and husband, Gordon; a brother, Arlie Franklin Sandusky and LuAn of Machestney Park, Ill.; and one grandson, Trent Stafford (Andrea) of Nashville, Tn.; as well as many family members and loving friends. Services will be held at Bluff City Apostolic Worship Center. Visitation will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, November 19, 2015. The funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2015 with Pastor Jerry Williams and grandson, Trent Stafford officiating. Burial will be held in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
