Alzina Britton left to be with the Lord on May 3, 2025. She was born August 31, 1958, in Poplar Bluff, MO. She was the firstborn of 5 children to the union of Rosie Lee Britton and Matthew Britton, Sr.
She confessed her faith in Christ at an early age under the pastorship of Rev Bell Boyce at Morning Star MB Church where she served as Sunday School Secretary, Usher, member of the Mission Board, and sang in the Choir. On February 5, 2017, she became a member of New Home MB Church under the pastorship of Rev Allen Williams.
She was a registered nurse and received her BSN from the University of Missouri-Columbia. In that capacity, she worked in the NICU, ICU, SICU, and Emergency Room in Columbia, MO. She served as a facilitator the Central MO Sickle Cell Support Group where she developed and coordinated programming for the Group. Prior to retirement she worked as a nurse at the VA in Poplar Bluff, MO.
Alzina pledged and was initiated as a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Lambda Epsilon Chapter, in Kansas City, MO in 1978.
Alzina truly loved the Lord. She was a walking miracle in her journey in this life. She gave thanks to God every day and lived life with determination. She loved her family and felt it was important to keep connected to family and friends. She loved God, good food, good company, and offered encouragement to anyone in overcoming life’s challenges.
She leaves to honor her memory and legacy her mother, Rosie Lee Britton-Ball of Polar Bluff, MO; two sisters Allean Britton of Puyallup, WA; Callean Britton of Bloomington, IL; one brother Bruce Bernard Britton (Ella) of Poplar Bluff, MO; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Matthew Britton, Sr; brother Matthew Britton, Jr; stepfather Wilbert Ball.
Visitation will be at 11 am Saturday, May 17 at Mt. Calvary Powerhouse Church, Poplar Bluff, MO. Funeral service immediately following at 1 pm. Eulogy will be delivered by Rev Bruce Britton. Interment will be at the Morocco Cemetery. Repass at Mt. Calvary Powerhouse Church following funeral services.
