Anita Marie Tanksley, 62, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Thursday, December 31, 2015 at her residence.
She was born November 13, 1953, in Louisiana, to the late James and Annie (Stark) Brumley.
She was a devoted worker for Wal-Mart over 35 years and was a member of the South Poplar Bluff General Baptist Church. She loved her grandchildren, going to church, and reading.
She is survived by two daughters, Melissa Mathis and Michelle Root; her twin sister, Alita Marie Browning and a sister, Margaret Franklin; six grandchildren, Myles Mathis, Madison Mathis, Jordan McIntosh, McKenzie Mathis, Jason Root, and Mason Mathis; and special friend, Van Elvis Lewis for over 30 years.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Ann Adams; two son-in-laws, Matthew Mathis and Jason Root Sr.
Visitation will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, followed by the funeral service at 6 p.m. in the chapel. Rev. Michael Pope and Cecil Brake will officiate. Interment will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Black Creek Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
