Aubrey Christie, 83, went to Heaven Friday, December 30, 2011 at his residence in Poplar Bluff, with family and friends beside him. Visitation will be 6-8PM Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Living Word Baptist Church 456 Township Line Road, Poplar Bluff. The funeral will be held 10AM Monday, January 2, 2012 at Living Word Baptist Church with the Rev. Donny Emmons officiating. Burial will be at a later time in Woodlawn Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Christie was born March 25, 1928, in Poplar Bluff, to the late Herschel Christie and Mattie Marler-Christie. He was a 52 year resident of Poplar Bluff and had formerly lived in Qulin, MO He was a purchasing agent, retired from M&A Electric. He served in the Marines from 1946-1952 during Korean War. He enjoyed trail riding and quail hunting. He was a published writer, a sunday school teacher,and headed Haven House trail rides for several years. He was a charter member of Living Word Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. He served as Treasurer and worked with the deaf ministry there. He was a member of the Cardiac Cowboys, VFW, SEMO Quail Hunters, and N.E. Arkansas Quail Hunters.
Aug 5, 1961 he married Ina Garner-Christie in Poplar Bluff; she survives. Also surviving are his children: Karen Zarky and husband Art of Camdenton, MO; Debbie Christie of Springfield, MO and Judy Christie Seawel and husband Brent of Poplar Bluff. Two brothers: Peter Christie and Herschel Christie III both of Eloy, AZ and Grandchildren: Brian Jones of Springfield, Mo; Karen Sue Heembrock and husband David of St. Louis; Angie Taylor of Springfield, MO; Jaybe Knauss of Memphis, TN; William Roach of Memphis, TN; Christie Browne and husband Richard of Springfield, MO; Carrie Stone of Springfield, MO; Dan Seawel and wife Julie of Clever, MO and Sarah McAnulty and husband Nathan of Poplar Bluff. Great Grandchildren: Kara, Robert and Katie Heembrock, Mairin and Collin Knauss, Emmaleigh Stone, Carson, Avery, and Richie Browne; Ailee, Olivia and Ben Seawel.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Carolann Christie Jones two sisters: Mable Withrow and Vivian Pleasant, and brothers: Clyde Christie, Carl Christie, and Don Christie.
