Bernice Soares Moore , of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away December 2, 2011 at the Saint Frances Medical Center, Cape Girardeau, Mo., at the age of 74 years, 4 months and 24 days.
Mrs. Moore was born July 8, 1937, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to the late William Machado and Annie (Verez) Machado. She had been a Butler County resident for the last 15 years. She was a member of the Poplar Bluff Apostolic Worship Center and enjoyed traveling, cooking and had been a cook at the Lucy Lee Hospital in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
On August 28, 1977, she was married to Michael V. Moore, in Honolulu, Hawaii. He survives.
Other survivors include her children; Glory and husband, Isaiah Song and Polly and husband, Teddy Conterbury, of Honolulu, Hawaii; Edwina and partner, Tony, of Providence, Rhode Island; Verna and partner, Tammy; Lynette and husband, Filipe Sanchez; Alfred and wife, Marie Soars; Drina and husband, Addison Medeiros, all of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Wayne and partner, Jacklyn of Poplar Bluff. Also surviving are her sisters, Dorothy, Diane, Lucille and Margret; 26 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Annie Machado.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:30 a.m., Monday December 5, 2011, at the Poplar Bluff Apostolic Worship Center, with Rev. Jerry Williams officiating. Burial in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Bloomfield, Missouri.
