Rev. Carlton Eugene Johnson

Reverend Carlton Johnson, age 84, of Naylor, Missouri, entered the gates of heaven at 8:45 a.m. on August 27, 2012, at the Elvis Presley Trauma Center in Memphis, Tennessee, as a result of injuries sustained in an automoblie accident. He was born on December 7, 1927, to the late Gifford B. and Ada Luella Johnson just outside of Arbyrd, Missouri. On July 6, 1946, he married his childhood sweetheart, Wanda Sue Johnson at Piggott, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on April 8, 2005. On March 29, 2009, he married Dorothy Hill. She survives. Rev. Johnson farmed as a young man under the direction of his father and served our country in the United States Marine Corp. before beginning his ministry as a traveling evangelist. He and his wife moved to Naylor in the mid 1950's and he worked as a plumber as they began their first ministry in Naylor, Missouri, which shortly thereafter moved to Oxly, Missouri. He is survived by his son, Laverl Johnson of Naylor, Missouri; his daughter and son-in-law, Bill and Susan Wiser of Springfield, Missouri; three grandsons, Zak Douglas and fiance', Mikki Maney of Bolivar and Billy Ray and Casey Ketcherside of Springfield, Missouri; three granddaughters, Tiffany, Carlena and Hailey Johnson of New Iberia, Louisiana; and one great-grandson, Cooper Perry Douglas of Bolivar, Missouri; one sister, Edna Cobb and her husband, Dennis of Dresden, Tennessee; three brothers, Janz Johnson of Doniphan, Missoouri, Odell Johnson and his wife, Lillian of Longview, Texas, and Gaylon Johnson an his wife, Sandra of Mer Rouge, Louisiana; one sister-in- law, Georgia Scherrer and her husband, Greg of Benton, Missouri; two brothers-in-law, Starling and his wife, Betty Guinn of Dexter, Missouri and Verlis Guinn and wife, Wava of Paragould, Arkansas and a host of nieces and nephews, in addition to his church family. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Carla Sue Johnson; one brother Bee Johnson and his wife, Anna Mae; a brother-in-law Charles Guinn and his wife, Guadalupe, one sister-in-law, Cynthia Starnes and her husband, Bill and a brother-in-law, EJ Guinn as well as his parents, Gifford B. and Ada Luella Johnson. The funeral for Reverend Johnson will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 31, 2012 at the Oxly United Pentecostal Church in Oxly, Missouri. Burial will be at the Naylor Memorial Cemetery in Naylor, Missouri following funeral. Visitation will be Thursday August 30, 2012 starting at 5:00 p.m. in the Oxly United Pentecostal church. Rev.
