Cecil Gunter

Cecil Herbert Gunter  was born July 2, 1930 in Carter County Mo to Herbert Greene Gunter and Jessie Muriel Joplin Gunter.

Cecil went to meet his Heavenly Father on February 25, 2021.  On July 23, 1949 he was united in marriage to Margaret Howe who survives of the home.  He is survived by one son Cecil E. Gunter (Sarah) of Poplar Bluff, one FAVORITE daughter Joyce L. Thorn of Dublin, VA, 3 grandsons: Cecil Gunter (Angie) of Poplar Bluff, John Gunter (Lisa), Scott Gunter (Joanne) of Corpus Christi, TX, 4 great-grandchildren: Kayleigh Abner (Timmy) Harviell, Mo, Taylor Colin (Christian Earwood), Madison Gunter, Colin Gunter of Corpus Christi, TX, 3 great-great grandchildren: Zhoey Abner, Brycen Abner, of Harviell, and Riley Earwood of Corpus Christi, TX, as well as one niece and one nephew.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, a brother, Robert "Bob" Gunter.  A very special granddaughter, Amy Thorn Harris and one grandson, Jimmy Gunter.

Cecil was the owner and operator of Gunter Sinclair and Gunter Appliance repair until his retirement.  Mr. Gunter was a member of the Masonic Lodge 209 of Poplar Bluff for 50 plus years.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his dogs.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 28, 2021 4-8 PM at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home 844 Cedar St. Poplar Bluff, MO  A Masonic rights service will begin at 7 PM.   Funeral service will be Monday, March 1, 2021 in the funeral home chapel at 1 PM with Thomas Keene officiating.  Burial will follow at Joplin Cemetery in Grandin, MO
