Charles William McCain, 83, of Neelyville died at 1 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at his residence.
Mr. McCain was born March 9, 1930, in Osceola, Ark. He was a heavy equipment operator for the Butler County Highway Department and had been a lifelong resident of Butler County. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and family gatherings. Mr. McCain was a deacon and choir president at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Harviell, Mo.
On April 12, 1952, he married Laura Ellis in Arkansas. She survives.
Other survivors include his children, Frank McCain of Rockford, Ill., Ronald McCain, Charleszine Jackson, Gary McCain, Patricia Scott and Kimberly McCain, all of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Jack McCain of Lone Oak, Ark.; one sister, Hattie Teague of Detroit, Mich.; two brothers, Fred McCain of Poplar Bluff, and James McCain of Neelyville; 16 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, MacArthur McCain; his parents, Thomas McCain and Lenora Griggs McCain; two sisters Lou Bertha Shaw and Ruby Walton; and one brother, Thomas Jonas McCain.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Calvary Powerhouse in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow beginning at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastors Gary and Ronald McCain officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Harviell.
