Charles Eugene Whittenburg

Charles "Butch" Eugene Whittenburg, 66, of Caruthersville, Mo., passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Mr. Whittenburg was born February 20, 1947 to Charlie and Ona Mae (Spangler) Whittenburg, at Poplar Bluff. A self-employed construction contractor, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching television. On September 30, 1984 he married Fay E. (Dinkins) Whittenburg at Peach Orchard. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his children, Charles James Whittenburg, Jenifer Dawn Neal, and step-daughter, Pennie Moore; his mother, Ona Mae Whittenburg; 2 sisters, Patsy Harlan and Deborah Hicks, as well as 8 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Ona Marie Whittenburg. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, August 23, 2013, followed by funeral services at 12 noon at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo., with Rev. Calvin Buhler officiating. Burial will be in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
