Cheryl Smith Obituary


Cheryl Ann Smith, age 48, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Mrs. Smith was born March 9, 1965 in Granite City, Ill. She was an elementary teacher in the Neelyville School system. She loved teaching and developing children's minds. She loved her family and her church and she enjoyed crafts. She was a member of the Palace of Praise Church in Poplar Bluff and the Missouri Teachers Association.

On June 10, 1983 she married Bob Smith, in Granite City, Ill. He survives.

Also surviving include her children, Matthew Smith and wife, Kasie, Nicole Burden and husband, Brad, and Sarah Willard and husband, Nick; her parents, Paul and Syble Hillis; her mother-and father-in-law; James and Bonnie Smith; a sister, Beverly Smith (Mike); three brothers, David Hillis (Sherry), Steve Hillis (Edna), Timothy Hillis (Stacie) and brother-in-law James Smith; two grandsons, Landon and Carson Burden and a granddaughter, Sawyer Willard.

She is preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Brenda Smith and a niece, Autumn Brondell.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at the Palace of Praise Church, 1400 Herschel Bess Blvd., Poplar Bluff, Mo. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at the church with Bishop Kent Miller officiating. Burial held in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
