Dan Robert McCarty, 75, formerly of Alma, Illinois, and a longtime resident of Bloomfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully at approximately 8:05 a.m. on Saturday, March 5th, at the Veterans Hospital in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Dan was born on December 24, 1949, to Harry McCarty and Ann Rose McCarty (Poutry).
He was a proud United States Army Veteran who honorably served his country during the Vietnam War.
Dan is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Puckett of Mount Vernon, Illinois, and her special friend, Ryan Roddy; granddaughter, Alexandria Williams and her husband Caleb of Salem, Illinois; and grandson, Dylan Benson and Breanna Benson and their children, Ayden and Ellis of Herrin, Illinois. He is also survived by his sisters, Evelyn Smith (Ken) and Jean Demain; sisters-in-law, Jessica McCarty of Springfield, Missouri, and Karen McCarty; and brother-in-law, Bob Batchalor.
Also close to Dan's heart was Jessica Cannon, one of Cheryl’s dearest friends, who supported him during his journey and remained a cherished presence in his life.
Dan was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 24 years, Linda McCarty. He was also preceded in death by his parents, as well as siblings Irene Browlee (Robert), William McCarty (Dawn), Carol Batchalor, Harry McCarty, Thomas McCarty, Rosemary Jackovich, and Joseph McCarty (Jessica).
Dan had a lifelong passion for fishing, gardening, and a strong cup of coffee. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no public service.
