Daniel Leroy Mcnew

Daniel Leroy McNew, 85, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at his home. Mr. McNew was born February 11, 1931 in Butler County. He was a member of Oak Grove New Beginning Church in Poplar Bluff. He had worked as a truck driver for Rowe Furniture Co. He enjoyed playing music and singing, for years singing with the McNew Gospel Singers. He also loved teaching the Bible and being with his family. On July 30, 1949, he married Dortha McNew in Piggott, Ar. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, Daniel McNew (Lynn), Steven McNew (Crystal), and John McNew and one daughter, Veronica Pruitt; a sister, Wanda Sullivan and step-brother, Kirk Clark (Bonnie); 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; as well as 6 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, David McNew and mother, Laura (Blagg) McNew; sisters, Betty Edwards and Evelyn Morse; brother, Darrell McNew and half-brother, Alvin Sisk; and daughter-in-law, Mamie McNew and son-in-law, Terry Pruitt. Visitation will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday September 3, 2016, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, followed by the funeral service at 1:30 p.m., in the chapel, with Rev. Melburn Deaton officiating. Mr. McNew will be laid to rest in the New Oak Hill Cemetery.
