Darwin L. "Vern" Davis, 86, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at Westwood Hills Healthcare. He was born March 7, 1928 in East Carter County to the late Joe Davis and Jewel M. "Joplin" Jolley.
He was a building contractor and also farmed. Mr. Davis enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, reading and using a computer. He was a member of the Lions Club and attended and supported the New Hope Baptist Church. He was married March 5, 1955 to Doris Ann Kiser in Hernando, Mississippi. She survives.
Also surviving, one son; Dr. Darwin L. Davis Jr. and one daughter Tana Jean (Davis) Bringer both of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. His grandchildren, Darwin L. Davis III, Courtny L. (Davis) Barnett, Peyton Davis, Wesley Bringer, Joseph Bringer, great grandchildren; Paige Davis, Davis Barnett, Reece Barnett, Beau Barnett, Landon Bringer, Bailey Bringer, and a special friend and caregiver, Eva Phillips.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his grandparents, Spencer A. Joplin and Nellie (Long) Joplin; and one brother Doug Jolley.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 am Saturday at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville, Missouri. The funeral will begin at 11:00 am , August 16, 2014 , Saturday In the Neelyville Chapel. Rev. Kent Wilfong will be officiating assisted by Charles Joe Kiser. Burial will be in the Joplin Cemetery.
