Dave Louis Carbin, 71, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Monday, April 28, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Mr. Carbin was born July 20, 1942, to the late James and Dorothy (Linke) Corbin, in Allentown, New Jersey. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he received 2 purple hearts.
He was a former volunteer firefighter in Clarksber, New Jersey at a station founded by his grandfather, Louis Carbin, and currently named by his nephew, James Carbin III. David was an avid hunter, fireman, stock car racer, boxer and a lovely storyteller.
Mr. Carbin is survived by his wife of 45 years, Charlotte (Sandmeyer) Carbin, 3 daughters; Pamela Politte of Poplar Bluff, Veronica Schuman of Manhattan, Montana, Sandra Loftus of Westlake, La; two sons, Brian Politte of Poplar Bluff and Lynn Loftus, Olla, La; a brother, Raymond Carbin Steubenville, Ohio; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Malinda Ann Sypolt, grandson Timothy Carbin and granddaughter, Elizabeth Politte; a brother, James Carbin, and sister, Virginia Carbin.
Dave was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend to many in need. He will be missed by all.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar St. Poplar Bluff, Mo., with funeral service to follow at 7 p.m., with Ron Fowler officiating.
