David “Rodney” Hathaway, 77, of Jackson, MO passed away December 2, 2022, in his home surrounded by his family. David was born February 8,1945, in Poplar Bluff, MO to Jesse Lee and Gladys Hathaway who preceded him in passing. David was married to his beautiful wife Linda Mae (Vinson) Hathaway who also preceded him in passing. Surviving David are his 3 children, Cary Wayne Hathaway of Jackson, MO, Leslie Lashay Hathaway of Poplar Bluff, MO and Shannon Lee Hathaway of Delta MO, 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. David has 2 surviving brothers Karrol (Noma) Hathaway of St. Ann, MO and Sammy Hathaway of Jefferson City, MO and many nieces and nephews. All other brother and sisters have preceded him in passing, Bonnie (Lloyd) Emerson, MaryLee (Edwin) Bullock, Pat (Junior) Farris, Dixie (Carl) Ham, Lenore (Donald) Nelson, Lionel Hathaway. He meant the world to all of his loved ones.
David served in the United States Army and was a Sentry Dog Handler. David was employed for several years at the VA Hospital in Poplar Bluff, MO where he retired. David was also a Fireman at the Poplar Bluff City Fire Department for many years. David enjoyed watching old movies, singing and watching the boats in the Mississippi river.
There will be a viewing at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home at 844 Cedar St. in Poplar Bluff, December 8, 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, for family and 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm for close friends and public. Service will begin at 1:00 pm followed by burial at City Cemetery.
