David Wayne Reed, 53, of Florissant, Mo., departed this life Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Christian Hospital in St. Louis.
David was born August 11, 1963 in Poplar Bluff, Mo., to the union of Ferdie Reed Sr. and Lillie Mae Reed. He was the eighth of eleven children. He graduated from Three Rivers Community College with an Associate Degree; from there he attended a technical school, where he received a degree in heating and cooling.
Active in his younger years, he loved a challenging game of chess. He was also an avid player of tennis, golf, and ice skating, rollerblading and racquet ball.
Through life's many trials, David was steadfast, resilient, and consistently teaching us how to be more concerned for others than ourselves.
He was a member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, where he confessed hope in Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. Bell Boyce.
David leaves behind to celebrate his home going, his father, Ferdie Reed Sr., 3 brothers, Windell Reed (Dorothy) of Houston, Tx., Ferdie Reed Jr. of Castilian Springs, Tn., and Paul A. Reed (Melanie) of Burlington, Ia.; 4 sisters, Linda J. Thomas and Mary Ann Reed of St. Louis, Mo., Sharon K. Greenleaf and Kathryn A. Reed of Kansas City, Mo., as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
David was preceded in death by his mother and three sisters, Brenda K. Colbert, Karen R. Reed and Patricia L. Reed.
Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 12 (noon), at the church, with the Rev. Andrew Jefferson Sr. officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Morocco Cemetery in Broseley.
