David Lee Sparks

David Lee Sparks, 73 of Hilliard passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Sparks was born December 27, 1943 in East St. Louis, IL. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He had served in the United States Army. He had worked for McKesson Drugs and was an avid scouter- being involved with Cub Scouts, Explorers and Boy Scouts. On December 30, 1965 he married Betty DeMaris-Sparks. She survives. Also surviving are seven children; Chantal Jamieson (Shanon) of Jackson, MO, Roshelle Kinder (Elwood) of Sikeston, MO, James Sparks (Yun Jeong) of Highland, UT, Dodi Riley (Patrick) of Sikeston, MO, Catherine Wood (Jason) of Lehi, UT, Adam Sparks (Giboney) of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Kimberly Wren (Trey) of Sikeston, MO; a sister, Joyce Hicks(Edward) of Poplar Bluff, 3 brothers, Daniel Sparks, Dale Sparks and Dewey Sparks(Lee) all of Poplar Bluff; 21 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Mr. Sparks was preceded in death by his parents; Granvil D. Sparks and Catherine Magill-Sparks, a brother; Dennis Sparks. Visitation will be at 1pm Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 2414 Katy Lane Poplar Bluff, MO. The funeral service will follow at 2pm with Bishop Steve Richardson officiating. Burial to be in New Oak Hill Cemetery in Butler County.
