Delbert Eugene Roach of Poplar Bluff, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2011 at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, at the age of 87.
Mr. Roach was born June 18, 1924, in Poplar Bluff, to parents, Lonnie D. and Ruby (Sizemore) Roach. Both preceding him in death. He was a lifetime resident of Poplar Bluff and member of Highland Drive Church of Christ. Mr. Roach served in the Navy during World War II. He was a retired store manager at Gambles and a salesman at Farmers Cash. Mr. Roach enjoyed church and walking and talking to people in Walmart.
On November 27, 1965, he married Laura Louella (Lampkins) in Greenville, Mo. She survives. Also surviving include one daughter, Denna Plaisted of Little Rock, Ar.; one son, Dennis Roach of Fairdealing, Mo.; three stepdaughters, Linda Grifin and Tami Maxey, both of Poplar Bluff, and Johnetta Boswell of Peoria, Ill.; one granddaughter, Kimberly Willshire of Katy, Texas; five step-grandchildren, Steve Boswell of Pekin, Ill., Sharon Moss of Lebanon, Mo., Ian Haynes of Poplar Bluff, Drew Haynes of Poplar Buff and Kyle Griffin of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; one great-grandchild, Avery Willshire of Katy, Texas; and five step-great-grandchildren, Drake and Tanner Boswell, both of Dallas, Texas, Austin and McKinsey Haynes, both of Poplar Bluff, and Mathew Griffin of Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Mr. Roach was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie D. Roach and Ruby Roach; two sisters, Delma Hill and Melba Sims; and three brothers, Dane Roach, Donald Roach, and Paul Roach.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at the Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. Funeral services at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel, with Vernon Curry officiating. Burial in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Northside Nurtrition Center or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
