Edith May Davis

Edith May Davis of Poplar Bluff passed away July 17, 2012 at the Mark Twain Caring Center at the age of 89. Mrs. Davis was born February 24, 1923 at Parma, Mo. to the late Lewis E. Gillihan and Violet May (Young) Gillihan. She had lived in Poplar Bluff since 1960. She was a member of the Third Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff and worked at Mo. Savings and Loan Company for 37 years. She enjoyed reading her Bible. On December 22, 1942 she married Raymond Larkin Davis at Poplar Bluff, Mo. He preceded her in death on July 10, 2011. Survivors include one daughter, Roberta "Bobbi" Leonard and husband, Jim of Jackson, Tn.; granddaughter, Jamie Lee Leonard-Mobley and husband Joshua of Jackson, Tn.; one great-grandchild, Weston Mobley of Jackson, Tn.; one sister, Barbara Tippen of Poplar Bluff; two brothers, Troy Gillihan and Roy Gillihan both of Poplar Bluff. Mrs. Davis is preceded in death by her parents, Lewis E. and Violet May Gillihan; her husband, Raymond L. Davis, one sister, Viola Gipson; two brothers Clarence and Raymond Gillihan; and one great-granddaughter, Morgan Lee Mobley. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 12 noon Thursday July 19, followed by funeral services starting at 1:30 p.m. at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar St. Poplar Bluff, Mo. Burial will be in the City Cemetery with Rev. Ralph Mayes officiating.
