Edna Mae Ridlen Cheek, 89, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014 at the Oakdale Caring Center.
Edna was born October 5, 1924, at Fairdealing, Mo., to the late John and Lily (Parrish) Nobles. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff and was always active in each of her churches she attended. She especially enjoyed the Joy Meetings, her Sunday school class and various missions. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends. She also enjoyed fishing and sewing.
She married John W. Ridlen on January 19, 1942, in St. Louis, Mo. He preceded her in death on February 16, 1992.
Survivors include one son, Roger W. Ridlen and wife, Glenda of Fairdealing, Mo.; a sister, Vivian Moritz, of Maywood, Ill.; three grandsons, Scott Ridlen (Lee) of Bella Vista, Ar., Mark Ridlen (Susie) of Piedmont, Ok., Marty Grace of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; two granddaughters, Stephanie McCutcheon, of Cape Girardeau, Mo. and Michelle Ridlen of Bakersfield, Ca.; 13 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. A host of family and friends also survive.
She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Joy Grace.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2014 followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. a Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo. Dr. William Vail will officiate. Burial will be held at 12:45 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2014 in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
