Edward Eugene Lomax, known to most as Gene, of Sullivan, Mo. , departed this life in Washington, Mo. on October 31, 2011 having reached the age of seventy-seven years, seven months and twenty-eight days. Gene was born in Morehouse, Mo. on March 3, 1934, son of Foster Harley Lomax and Iva Leona Lomax nee Goodnight. On April 23, 1955 he was united in marriage to Willa "Faye" Knowlton and three children came to bless this union.
Gene is survived by his children, Timothy Lomax and wife Gaynell, of Cuba, Mo., Pamela Hall of North Little Rock, AR. and Janet Isom and husband, Ed, of Paragould, Ar.; By eleven grandchildren, Twelve great-grandchildren, brothers and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Lomax; by his parents, Foster and Iva Lomax; by one brother, Troyce Lomax; and by his two sisters, Kathleen and Athleen Lomax.
Gene was a Christian of the Baptist Faith and long time active member of Central Baptist Church in Union, Mo. where he was an ordained deacon. Gene's working career was in the planting and caring for trees. He was employed by Suburban Tree Service in Des Peres, Mo. where he spent over thirty-five years as a a pesticide technician. He later was employed by L & W Tree Service where he was a foreman and tree surgeon until his retirement. Gene love the outdoors, working in the garden, cutting grass, brush hogging, and cutting and splitting wood. Watching and feeding wildlife was another of his hobbies. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and his children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren held a special place in iis heart. The precious memories they created will forever be cherished by them all.
A kind, loving and devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, great and great uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation was held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 02, 2011 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, Mo. Funeral Services were held on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville, MO. with Rev. David Wright officiating. Interment was in Kinsey Cemetery in Harviell, Mo. Memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church in Union, Mo.
