Frances Elaine Hamilton

Frances Elaine Hamilton, 83, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the Oakdale Care Center. Frances was born June 6, 1933 in Gideon, Mo. to Melvin and Millicent Gibson. Both preceded her in death. She was a member of South Poplar Bluff General Baptist Church (where she taught Sunday school for many years), ADK, and Missouri Retired Teachers Assoc. She taught school at Eugene Field for over 30 years completing 41 years in her career. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and cooking for others. On July 9, 1954 she married Bill Hamilton in St. Francis, Ark. He survives. Her sons, Kent Hamilton (Preeti) and Craig Hamilton (Pam) also survive, as well as her grandchildren, Kristin Hamilton, Heather Arment, Ethan, Riley, Lauren, and Jacob Hamilton and 6 great-grandchildren. One brother, Dennis Gibson also preceded her in death. Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 30, 2017 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, followed by the funeral service at 12 (noon) in the chapel with Rev. Royce Schanda and Rev. Michael Pope officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
