Gordon Wayne Gipson Sr., 70, of Poplar Bluff, MO unexpectedly passed away Monday September 25, 2017 at University of MO Hospital in Columbia, MO. Gordon was born Sept 15, 1947 in Poplar Bluff, MO to Lorene Norman and G.W. Gipson. Gordon graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1966. After working for the R-1 School District for 26 years he retired as Head Custodian of Poplar Bluff Jr High. Aside from spending time with family, Gordon enjoyed watching basketball, wrestling, or Columbo while telling us what to do or pushing Robin’s buttons just because he knew he could.
Left to cherish his joyous times and warm memories, Gordon leaves his loving wife of 33 years Robin and their two kids, Kristian LeGrand and granddaughter Jazlynn Taylor LeGrand and daughter Selina Gipson (William Miller) and grandson Axel Mason Miller. Gordon also leaves behind; Daughter Donna Clayborne and three grandsons Mark, Jamal, and Michael. Son Gary Williams and three granddaughters Ebony, Tambra, and Charlisha. Daughter Stephanie Williams and three grandchildren Timothy, Sakenya, and Kandyce. Son Elvis Williams and five grandchildren Christopher, Devin, Alissa, Ebon, and Sapphyre. Son Bobby Williams (Leslie Williams) and three grandsons Bobby, Matthew, and Nicholas. Son Gordon Gipson Jr and two grandchildren Shelbie and Austin. Son Gregory Gipson and four grandchildren Lindsay, Deonte, Tyson, and Greg Jr. Sisters Jeanetta Robinson, Tammy Davis, Kim Williams (Kelvin Williams), Pam Gipson. Brothers Mark Norman, Troy Powell, Forrest Gipson, Stacy Gipson, and George Hunt. Gordon also leaves behind many more brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, and many, many friends.
Preceding Gordon in death are his parents Lorene and Willie James Norman and G.W. Gipson as well as three brothers and a grandson.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday October 3, 2017 from 6 till 8 pm at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 4, 2017 at 12 pm in the funeral home chapel. Internment will follow in the City Cemetery.
