Helen Berniece Holden, 85, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Holden was born February 7, 1931 in Sikeston, Mo. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff and had worked at Florshiem Shoe Co. and as a cook at the Poplar Bluff High School before retirement. She enjoyed family dinners, playing with her grandchildren and watching the Andy Griffith Show.
On July 24, 1951, in Piggott, Ark., she married James Holden. He survives.
Other survivors include one sister, Maxine Coleman; three brothers, Bill Kenser, Earl Kenser Jr. and Ithel Kenser; two grandsons, Donald Rogers and John Pruitt; as well as five great-grandchildren, Donald Rogers III, Makenzie Manes, Wyatt Pruitt, Jameson Pruitt and Ridley Pruitt.
Those who preceded her in death are her parents, Earl and Verna Kenser; her daughter, Marsha Jean Pruitt; sisters, Verline Whitaker, Freda Edmond, and Margie Maddux; brothers, Troy, Loren, and Louis Kenser and a grandchild, Patrick Sweeney.
Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff followed by the funeral service at 12 noon with the Rev. Shelvie Stephens officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Fairdealing Cemetery.
