James Dowd

James Lester Dowd, 75, of Broseley, Mo., passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Mr. Dowd was born October 12, 1938, in St. Louis, Mo. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church. He was an ordained minister for 40 years and pastored different Baptist churches in the area. He loved reading his Bible and watching St. Louis Cardinal Baseball. On October 11, 1958 he married Shirley (Williams) Dowd, in Poplar Bluff. She survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Cindy Walters (Roger); three grandchildren, Summer Lynne Bruhn (Brady), Lance Walters (Caitlin) and Megan Walters; two great-grandchildren, Gracyn Rae Bruhn and Brooks Dean Bruhn. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Monroe Dowd and Rosetta (Timmons) Dowd. Visitation wil be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff followed by the memorial service at 10:30 a.m. with Dr. Steve Proctor officiating.
