Jason Root

Jason Walker Root, 30, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., formerly of Texas, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Mr. Root was born May 19, 1983, in Houston, Texas, and had lived in Butler County since 1996. He was an auto mechanic who enjoyed cars, fishing, hunting and being with friends. On May 18, 2002, he married Michelle Renee Tanksley in Poplar Bluff. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Jason Walker Root Jr. of Poplar Bluff; one stepson, Jordan Lee McIntosh of Poplar Bluff; parents, Ronald Root and Deborah Renee Eden Root, both of Poplar Bluff; grandmother, Ann Mannning of Houston; one sister, Brittany Renee Root of Poplar Bluff; two brothers, Rodney and Randy Root, both of Poplar Bluff; one niece, Makayla Root; one nephew, Rodney Root Jr.; and several aunts and uncles. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Thursday at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville. The funeral service will follow beginning at 11 a.m. with Gene McElhaney officiating . Burial will be in Kinsey Cemetery.
