Jeffery "Jack" Marcellus Moore

Jeffery "Jack" Marcellus Moore departed this life on March 28, 2011 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. at the age of 62. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2011 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, Poplar Bluff, Mo. Visitation will also be from 12 -1 p.m. Saturday followed by funeral services at 1p.m. at Mt. Calvary Power House Church, Poplar Bluff, Mo. Burial in City Cemetery, with full millitary rites. Rev. Johnnie Williams and Bishop Ron Webb officiating. Born on February 11, 1949 to the late Ezell and the late Evelyn (Glass) Moore in Birdeye, Ark. After graduating from Poplar Bluff High School in 1967, Jack served in the United States Army for 2 years. After his Honorable Discharge, Jack worked for Union Pacific Railroad until he retired in 1995. While on his retirement Jack enjoyed working at the SEMO Baptist Youth Camp (Share Croppers Camp) as Camp Manager and Wheatly Historical Preservation Center. Jack's hobbies included collecting antiques, carpentry, historian and political activist for the Democratic party. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Winston Moore; sisters, Rita Faye Moore, Jeanetta Moore and Beverly Kaye (Moore) Simpson; mother-in-law, Eunice (Griffin) Brewer and brother-in-law, Clemmie Simmons. Jack leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 38 years, Margaret ( Brewer) Moore and children, Sidney Moore and Jeffery Moore III, of Poplar Bluff; daughters, Adrienne (Mareece) Webb of LaVergne, Tn and Erin (Alhagie) Ceesay of Long Beach, Ms., 10 grandchildren, Jalon Harris, Tiana Harris, Adrian Webb, Darian Webb all of LaVergne, Tn., Marissa Webb, Soley Webb, Payton Johnson and Mya Johnson all of Poplar Bluff, and Yahya Cesay of Long Beach, Ms.; siblings, Herman ( Sara) Moore of Dalton, Il, Margaret ( William) Kimball of Chicago, Il, Azell ( Bobbie) Moore of Bellwood, Il, Odessa Simmons of Shreveport, La. Willie Mae Raney of Fairview Heights,Il, Al Moore of St. Louis, Bradford (Jacqueline) Moore of Kansas City, Mo, Patricia ( William) Diggs of Raytown, Mo., Bernice (Anthony) McPhee of Antioch, Tn, Dennis Moore of San Francisco, Ca and Rebecca ( Gregory) White of Columbia, Mo; Aunt Hazel (Glass) Mills of Poplar Bluff; brother -in-laws Charles ( Shirley) Brewer of Chicago, Il, Fred Brewer of Miami, Fl, Earnest (Anika Fields) Brewer of Tallahassee, Fl and Darren Simpson of Grandview, Mo; sister-in-law Elsie Moore of Los Angeles, Ca; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Jack never came across a stranger and called many people his friends. Jacks' best friends included: Calvin Smith, Ed McKinney, Marion West, Lavell Hinton, Rex Rattler, Ferdie Reed, Clarence Dailey, Paul White, Richard Joachim and Danny Anderson. Jack was a devoted son, nephew, brother, husband, father, and grandfather and friend. He will truly be missed by everyone he came in contact with.
