Jo Ann Reed

July 2, 1938 — October 5, 2014

Jo Ann Reed, 76, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed peacefully on October 5, 2014 of natural causes. She is survived by her daughter, Marla Andrews of Poplar Bluff and son, Doug (Carolyn) Reed of Beaverton, Oregon; her grandchildren, Michael Andrews, Chris Andrews and Justin Andrews of Poplar Bluff, and Harry Reed and Julia Reed of Beaverton, Oregon; great-grandchildren, Dawson Andrews, Gracie Andrews and Lillie Andrews all of Poplar Bluff. A much beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Jo is fondly remembered for being the life of every party. A smart woman with a strong will and a keen sense of fun, Jo Mama loved to sing, dance, play games and shower her family with love and affection. She was a huge sports fan, an avid reader and a gentle soul who loved the holidays and family traditions most of all. Jo Ann was born in Parma, Missouri on July 2, 1938, the first born daughter of Fred and Edna Buckley. A spirited child who was her grandfather's favorite fishing buddy. Jo was prone to mischief. She grew up on the family farm and learned the value of hard work and the importance of education, traits she passed on to her children and values she embodied her entire life. Jo Ann married Dewayne Reed of Broseley, Mo. in July 1959 and they built a life together in Missouri, California and Arizona until Dewayne's passing in January 2005. They enjoyed traveling together. We remember Jo Mama for the many fun-filled times that spanned her entire life. She was a memorable woman and left her mark and positive energy on everyone she met. We will all miss her, but know she is in a better place. We celebrate her life, her love and her memory. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Brown Chapel Cemetery, Broseley, Mo., with Brother Gary Groves officiating.
