June Marie (Williams) Webb

June 12, 1934 — October 17, 2023

Poplar Bluff

June Marie (Williams) Webb, 89, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri passed away October 17th, 2023, peacefully, surrounded by her family.  She was born June 12th, 1934, in Braggadocio, Mo to Jethro and Mary (Lane) Williams.  On June 29th, 1952, she married Alfonse Webb, Sr., and to this blessed union 10 children were born.

June confessed Christ at an early age at the New Light Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Frank Earl.  She was a current member of Loving Jesus Ministry, where she served many years in various capacities.  Her leadership stated that she did everything short of preaching in the pulpit.  She loved to rally behind projects and her fundraising skills were unmatched.  She graduated from Wheatley High School.  While she was accepted into Tuskegee University, she chose to get married and start a family with Mr. Alfonse Webb, Sr, a Korean War Veteran.  Together they purchased, worked and maintained the farm where they raised their 10 children.  She was employed many years by the Poplar Bluff Hospital, Poplar Bluff Public Library and the Poplar Bluff School District.

In her spare time June, affectionately known as “Granny” or “Aunt Mike”, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking dinners, fishing and long car rides.  June was known for her compassion, and generosity-everyone left better after spending time with her.  June’s friendships encompassed those from all aspects of life.  Each person was special to her. From phone call chats, counseling sessions, to sharing a meal.  She was a friend to many and a stranger to none.  June delighted in fun and maintained a since of humor and a love of learning throughout her life.   She leaves a legacy of love that truly embodied the adage of a life well lived.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory:  4 daughters: Carolyn Britton, & Dr. Sandra (Dwayne) Jackson both of Poplar Bluff, Mo.  Delorris (Clifton) Thompson of Brier Creek, N.C., & Venorris (Kenith) Delesline of Ozark, Ar.  4 sons Bishop Alfonse (Jennifer) Webb, Jr. of Jefferson City, Mo., David (Michele) Webb, Sr, Bishop Ron (Georgia) Webb, Sr & Bruce (Sue) Webb, all of Poplar Bluff, Mo. 1 brother: Bishop Johnny Roy Williams of Poplar Bluff, Mo. She also leaves to a lifetime of cherished memories in the hearts of her loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband: Alfonse Webb, Sr., 2 children: Sgt 1st Class Terry Joe Webb, United States Army & Jeanette Webb-Johnson.  3 Sisters:  Mary Louise Kyles, Hattie Williams & Dortha Williams.  5 Brothers: Mitchell Williams, Sr., Jethro Williams, Jr., Jesse Williams, Samuel Williams, & Charles Williams, and her parents:  Jethro & Mary Lane Williams.
