Junior Davis

Junior Hardy Davis passed away, Saturday, January 7, 2012, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, at the age of 84. Mr. Davis was born April 25, 1927 in Success, Arkansas, to the late Hardy and Maud (Staner) Davis. He had lived in Butler County since 1983, but was formerly of Cahokia, Il. He was a fork lift operator at General Motors. He enjoyed gardening, working on cars, and loved going to church. He helped start the Apostolic Pentecostal Church of Cahokia, Ill. and the New Testament Church of Jesus Christ in Neelyville, Mo., where he was a church board member. Mr. Davis also served in the United States Air Force during WWII. On September 23, 1947, he was married to Maudie Lorene (Newingham) Davis, in Corning, Arkansas. She survives. Other survivors include his daughters, Barbara Ann Hubbard of Poplar Bluff, and Sharron Kay Davis-Buckner and husband, Alan, of Troy, Ill.; one sister, Josephine Worley of Columbia, Mo., and one brother, Bob Davis, Poplar Bluff. Six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren also survive. Mr. Davis is preceded in death by his parents, Hardy and Maud Davis; sisters, Elise Neal, Marie Hensley, Harvie Sutt, Imogene Kinkade, and Gracie Tuttle; brothers, J.T. Davis and Hurshel Davis. Visitation for Mr. Davis will be at 6 p.m. Monday, January 9, 2012, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January10, 2012 in the funeral home chapel,with Rev. Glenda Haven and Rev. James A. Wood officiating. Burial in the Corning City Cemetery, Corning, Arkansas.
