Kerry Stratton

Kerry Ann Stratton was born January 23, 1974, and went to be with her Heavenly Father on August 22, 2026 at the age of 52.

Kerry fought a hard and courageous battle with ALS. The disease stole so much from her, but it could never steal her spirit. She continued to smile throughout her battle. In true Kerry fashion, she worried more about others and how her illness, care, and death would affect them than she worried about herself.

Kerry loved her family deeply, and her favorite thing was simply spending time with them. Her son and grandchildren meant the world to her and gave her strength to keep fighting. Of all the roles she had in life, being a mom and a grandma were the ones she was most proud of. She shared a special bond with her granddaughter, who brought her tremendous joy—and whom Kerry spoiled endlessly!

Kerry also shared a close and special bond with her dad, who was her biggest champion throughout her life. She was, and always will be, a “daddy’s girl.”

For 13 years, Kerry worked for Fellowship General Baptist Church. It broke her heart when it became impossible for her to continue doing the job she loved. Her church family became an extension of her own family, and she treasured the friendships she made there. Their love, prayers, friendship, and support meant so much to Kerry and to her family throughout her illness.

Kerry was kind, unselfish, and incredibly generous. If she could help someone, she did. She consistently put the needs of others before her own. Kerry wanted everyone around her to be happy. Her son and grandchildren were at the top of that list.

Kerry was beautiful, inside and out. ALS took a devastating toll on her body, but it never took away the person she was. Those who loved her were continually amazed by her positive attitude and the grace and humility with which she faced such a cruel disease. She was an inspiration to all of us! She never became bitter. She hated asking for help and rarely complained. Even after ALS stole her voice, Kerry continued communicating the way she had lived—with a smile and a thumbs-up to let everyone know she was okay.

Although our hearts are broken to lose Kerry, we find comfort in knowing she is whole and healthy again in Heaven. She is being held safely in the arms of her Savior. She can speak, laugh, walk, and smile freely again.

Kerry is survived by her son, Wyatt (Makayla) Wilkerson; her parents, Kenny and Shari Stratton; her brother, Justin Stratton (Sarah Kegel); her sister, Kim (Wally) Boatright; her grandchildren, Isla and Stone Wilkerson; her nephews, Garrett (Taylor) Boatright and Reace Boatright; her step-grandfather, Troy Gillihan; and her special friend, Chad Montague.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Doris Haley-Stratton; her paternal and maternal grandparents; her step-grandmother; and her uncle Timmie Stratton.

Kerry will be deeply missed, but the love she gave so freely, the kindness she showed to others, and that unforgettable smile will remain with those who loved her forever.

A memorial visitation will be from 12pm to 1 pm Wednesday, August 26,2026 at Fellowship General Baptist Church 3581 North Westwood Blvd. Poplar Bluff, MO

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the ALS Association in Kerry’s memory, in the hope that one day a cure will be found for this cruel disease.
