Rev. Lester E. Galbraith

Rev. Lester Erben Galbraith, 94, of Mountain View, Mo. and formerly of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the Mountain View Healthcare. Mr. Galbraith was born September 18, 1920, in Rozell, Kansas, to the late Frank and Grace Ellis Galbraith. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was an ordained minister of the Pentecostal Holiness Church and pastored many churches for sixty-four years, including the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Poplar Bluff. He is the longest serving pastor in the Tri-State Pentecostal Holiness Conference. On March 24, 1946 he married Helen Wanda Brigance in Mountain View, Mo. She died August 1, 1999. They were married for 53 years. Later he married Mary Venable on September 15, 2001 in Poplar Bluff. They were married 5 years until her passing on September 11, 2006. Survivors include his children, Rodney Lester Galbraith, Helen Anita Vulgamott, Patricia Lynn Sharp, Jeffrey Alan Galbraith and John Ray Galbraith; grandchildren, Leslie Ann Renken, Sean Sharp, Lester Erben Galbraith II, Melissa Sellars, Nicholas Sharp, Joshua Galbraith, Lynn Ann Sharp, Aaron Galbraith and Cole Galbraith; great-grandchildren, Meghan Renken, James Sharp, Patricia Renken, Haley Sharp, Brenden Galbraith, Zachary Renken, Rhendi Sellars, Braden Galbraith, Jathan Sellars, Gavin Sharp, Kinsley White, Kynadie White; one great-great-grandchild, Olivia Marie Renken; step-children, Nancy Summers (Jerry), Sharon Jordan (Larry), Wanda Clark (Steve), Joyce Fowler (Ron), Eli Venable, Pricilla Elsworth (Joe), and Raymond Ogle. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, October 31, 2014 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the chapel. The Rev. James Peevyhouse will officiate. Burial will be in the Old City Cemetery in Mountain View.
