Lewis Edward Ray was the son of Clarence and Veronica Ray. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 15, 1960. He passed away July 6, 2022, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He was the grandson of Elmer and Margaret Shepherd who brought him from New Yor to Missouri.
Lewis married the love of his life, Theresa White in January of 1983. She survives. Also surviving are their three children, Dana (David) Wright, Andrea (Anthony) Gillum and Aaron (Alisha) Ray, 12 grandchildren, whom he adored, Shelbie (Justin) Umfleet, Mason Sneed, Braxton Sneed, Chase Brooks, Zander Brooks, Waylon Brooks, Anniston Brooks, Brice Doles, Abbigal and Lucy Gillum, Katie and Jaylynn Ray, one great granddaughter, Brylee Umfleet, two sisters, Margaret McDonald, Karen Gordon.
Lewis served in the Army National Guard for 7 years. In that time, he worked as a CNA. Upon returning home he worked as a CNA at Lucy Lee Hospital in Poplar Bluff. He enjoyed all things outdoors; some of his favorites were fishing, hummingbird watching and just good ole front porch sitting with his wife. In his free time, he enjoyed making videos with his grandkids, watching movies and eating all his wife's cooking. Everyone says he was the best storyteller. In our hearts he will always be. Lewis loved his family above all else. He was a kind and gentle soul who will never be forgotten and always loved deeply.
May you rest easy dear Lewis.
