Tough Guy/ Tender Heart- Louis Philip Gilliland, 92, son of the late William J. Gilliland and Allie (Gray) Gilliland, was born April 28, 1922 in Cooter, Missouri, and passed away December 12, 2014 at his home in Poplar Bluff, Missouri with his daughter, Linda, son-in-law Glen and sister Allie by his side.
Louis served in active duty in the US Army in World War II, In his younger years, he was a farmer: the later, a long haul truck driver out of Grand Junction, Colorado. He has lived in Poplar Bluff and Fairdealing since retiring.
Imogene Alice Woolard, his bride of 68 years, preceded him in death in September of this year. He is survived by one daughter, Linda Shea, and her husband, Glen Shea of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; Three brothers, Lloyd Gilliland of Drain, Or., Henry Gilliland of Mountain Home, ID. and John Gilliland of Lazier, Co. ; four sisters, Bea Fritts of Sutherlan, OR, Margaret Richmond, Allie Dannecker and Hazel Watson all of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren all of Colorado. Two brothers preceded him in death, Jesse Robert Gilliland of Poplar Bluff and William Gilliland of Coeur D' Alene, ID.
Funeral Services will be on Tuesday December 16, 2014 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 2414 Katy Lane in Poplar Bluff, MO.. Visitation: Family 12:30-1:00 p.m.. Friends and neighbors 1:00-2:00 p.m. Funeral: 2:00-3:00 p.m. Graveside services following at the Naylor Memorial Cemetery.
Dinner for family and friends will be provided back at the Church on Katy Lane following graveside services.
Memorials may be made to the Haven House Women's Shelter of Poplar Bluff.
