Mary Lucille Wheelis

Mary Lucille Wheelis, 83, of Poplar Bluff passed away July 26, 2014 at her residence. Mrs. Wheelis was born Nov. 15, 1930 in Butler County to the late Oscar Brannum. Mrs. Wheelis was a member of Memorial Baptist Church. She had worked at Smiley Container for 35 years. She enjoyed reading growing flowers, fishing and loved cherry pie. On July 18, 1969 she married Ogden Wheelis in Illinois, he survives. Also surviving is a son, Dale Hodge, step daughters, Tausha Leigh, and Mina Wheelis; one half sister, Annabella, a brother Gene Brannum, 8 grandchildren, Mitchell, Mike, Eric Hodge and step grandchildren; Brandi, Mike, Bradley, Ashley, and Stephaine, and 19 great-grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Gary Hodge, 3 sisters, Neva, Gladys Hilterbrand, and Alma Wheelis and 3 brothers, Joyce Brannum, Buck Brannum and Warren Brannum. Visitation will be noon Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home and the service will follow at 1pm in the chapel with Rev. Don Mayo officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens.
