Melvin Gene Horn

Melvin Gene Horn, 77, of Doniphan, Mo., passed away on Jan. 15, 2017 at his home. Mr. Horn was born on April 28, 1939 in Bernie, MO. He worked as a farmer and enjoyed fishing, hunting and the outdoors. He was a member of the New Hope Church and the V.F.W. Melvin is also a Veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. On December 30, 1956 he married Betty June Miller in Senatobia, MS. She preceded him in death on January 20, 2005. Melvin is survived by 1 son, Melvin "Jay" Horn of Doniphan, Mo.; 2 grandchildren, Debra Gibson & Brandy Horn; as well as 7 great-grandchildren, Jasmine Gibson, Christian & Jordan Gibson and Reece, Laina, Landon and Shawn Horn. Besides his wife, he is preceded in death by parents, Moody & Ora Horn; 3 sisters, Lois Flanagan, Mary Anderson, and Dorothy Carter; 2 brothers, Bob Horn and A.D. Horn as well as 2 great- grandchildren, Bryce and David Gibson. Visitation will take place on Sat. January 21, 2017 from 11:00 - 1:00 at the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville. The funeral will follow at 1:00p.m. in the chapel. Burial will take place at the New Hope Cemetery in Doniphan.
