Melvin Overton

Melvin A. Overton, 58 of Fredericktown passed away at his residence July 13, 2011. Visitation will be from 10-12 Saturday July 16, 2011 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar st. Poplar Bluff. A graveside funeral will be at 12:15 at City Cemetery, with full military rites with Rev. Bob Fry officiating. Mr. Overton was born August 12, 1952 in Poplar Bluff, to the late William Henry Overton and Alta Hornbeck Overton. He is retired from the Army. He loved working on the farm, fishing and playing with his grandchildren. On July 4, 2003 he married Chris Howell in Willow Springs, TX, she survives. Also surviving are his children; James Overton, Melvin Overton, Mellisa Jo Overton, and Mickey Overton, and a grand daughter, Jessica Overton, who lives in his home; two sisters, Virginia Crafford of Poplar Bluff and Helen Casteel of Poplar Bluff; two brothers; Ronald R. Hornbeck, Springtown, TX and John Knowles of Poplar Bluff; a special aunt; Paulene Lade of Poplar Bluff, who raised him and numerous other grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother; William Henry "Bill" Overton, Jr.
