Michael “Mike” Lee Palmer entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on April 21,2025. Mike was born March 16, 1953 to Jack and Arlene (Smith) Palmer. He was the oldest of 3 children. Mike graduated from Park Hill High School in Kansas City class of 1971. Mike made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as a young man and was reassured of this decision following a revival at Westwood Baptist Church.
Mike married the love of his life Beverly (Ceradsky) Palmer on May 28, 1983. They were blessed with one son Aaron Michael Palmer.
Mike worked in building material retail at Payless Cashways and Westlake Hardware where he was the person to go to for those that had questions regarding building and home repair. He shared his knowledge with his son Aaron and others. He was always willing to lend a hand when needed.
Mike’s love for cooking began through watching and learning from his uncle Deke. He was always willing to make a meal to share with friends and family, known for his delicious BBQ brisket, lasagna, and cinnamon rolls. One tradition he continued from his childhood was that of baking Christmas cookies for friends and family, with just over 140 dozen made and delivered this past Christmas.
In addition to cooking Mike always enjoyed fishing especially with his dad at Riss Lake to his last fishing trip with Bev and Aaron in Mississippi for their 40th wedding anniversary.
Mike will be remembered for his gentle spirit, devotion to his family and faith, his ability to laugh, listen and share advise when asked.
Mike will be greatly missed by his wife Beverly and son Aaron of the home, his sisters Cindi Allain (Clancy), Pam Burrell (Jack) along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. One special great nephew Hudson Burrell who was like a “grandson”
He was proceeded in death by his parents, his grandparents Grant and Olive (Peck) Smith and Floyd and Violet (Thompson) Palmer. His cousin Clark Palmer whom he considered a brother as well numerous aunts and uncles.
There will be a visitation Friday, April 25, 2025, from 11am-12pm at Westwood Baptist Church 419 Proctor Dr. Poplar Bluff, MO 63901. The funeral service will follow at noon. Burial to follow in Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Westwood Baptist Church Debt Retirement.
