Norman L. Dunlap, life-time resident of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away February 22, 2013, at his home surrounded by family.
Mr. Dunlap was born November 19, 1937, in Butler County, to the late Homer and Mary (Deckard) Dunlap. He was co-owner of Dunlap Implement Massey Ferguson Dealership, in Poplar Bluff, for 48 years with his dad and three brothers. Norman enjoyed all sports. At the age of 16 he was the Mid-South Bantamweight Golden Gloves boxing champion. He enjoyed going to his grandson's ball games, boxing, tractor pulls, family gatherings, and Elvis Presley music. He was a member of Family Worship Center in Poplar Bluff.
On February 10, 1956, he married Bettie (Batson) Dunlap at Harviell, Mo. They were married for 57 wonderful years.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Ken and wife, Lynn Dunlap of Memphis, Tn., Michael Dunlap and Jimmy Dunlap; his beloved grandson, Logan Dunlap, all of Poplar Bluff; his sisters, Alta Buffington, Alma Allen and husband, Norman, Carol Bryant and husband, Joe, all of Poplar Bluff; Janice Estel and husband, Dennis of Sedalia, Mo., Doris Weber and husband, Mark of Russellville, Mo.; brothers, Bill Dunlap of Poplar Bluff, Glen Dunlap and wife, Floyce of Fisk, James Dunlap and wife, Lenora of Poplar Bluff and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded him in death by his parents; one sister-in-law, Mary Dunlap and one brother-in-law, Vernon Buffington.
Visitation for Mr. Dunlap will be from 6-8p.m. Monday, February 25, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2013 in the chapel with the Rev. Bud Goins officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown's Chapel Cemetery at Broseley.
