Ogden Elijah Wheelis

Ogden Elijah Wheelis, 92 , of Poplar Bluff, Mo. died Wednesday, Oct 11, 2017, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center. Mr.Wheelis was born June 7, 1925 , in Illinois. He married Mary Lucille Wheelis on July 18, 1969, She died July 26, 2014. He was of the Pentecostal faith and was a member of the Midland Church. He was a member of the Coon Hunters Association. Mr. Wheelis served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He owned and operated Ogden's Auto Body Repair Shop. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, and working on cars. Survivors include children, Tausha Leigh and Mina Wheelis; a stepson Dale Hodge; sister Anna Bell Osborn; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Mabel Wheelis; stepson Gary Hodge; sisters Cyless Harp and Nina Bybee; brothers, Theodore; Bimel; and Billy Wheelis; and one great-grandson, Bradley Hodge. Visitation will be at noon Saturday, Oct. 14, at Fowler- Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. The funeral will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Eldon Wheelis. Burial and military rites will be in Memorial Garden.
