Richard Lane Anderson was called home Sunday, November 13, 2016 to be with the Lord at the age of 57.
He was born February 7, 1959 in Marceline, Mo. to the late Elzia and Naomi (Teeters) Anderson.
A former resident of Illinois, Richard had lived in Poplar Bluff, Mo. for six years. He was a former truck driver and enjoyed tending horses, dogs, playing darts, hunting, and fishing. He was a Sgt. E-5 in the United States Army where he was trained in military combat, a member of LRRPS team, military police, military intelligence and a trained sniper. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and sharing his military experiences. He was a member of Poplar Bluff Newman Dart League and Ripley County Wagon Train and Trail Ride Association.
On May 27, 2006 he married Jennifer J. Anderson in Downs, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are children, Nicholas Richard and Reginald John; 5 sisters, Ann Dennis of Olathe, Ks., Dorothy Musick of Fisk, Mo., Donna Earles of DesMoines, Ia., Linda Tomlinson of Brookfield, Mo., and Judy Corbin of Columbia, Mo.; 4 brothers, Chuck Anderson of Bucklin, Mo., Larry Anderson of Marceline, Mo., Wayne Anderson of Olathe, Ks., and David Anderson of Booneville, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as one brother, Jim Anderson who lived in Linneus, Mo., infant sister, Helen Louise Anderson and sister-in-law, Barbara Anderson who lived in Bucklin, Mo.
A memorial service with full military honors will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2016 at the Missouri State Veteran Cemetery in Bloomfield, with Pastor Donna Ewert officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations to veterans will be accepted.
