Richard Elwood Towns Sr., 79, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., formerly of Colorado, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2014, at his home. +
Mr. Towns was born November 16, 1934 in Grand Junction, Colo. Dick was a mechanic and painter for Southern Truck. He enjoyed rock hounding and jewelry making. He attended Living Word Baptist Church.
On November 21, 1969, he married his wife Barbara in California. She survives
Other survivors include his children, Jerry Towns, Mona Smith, Mike Towns, and Richard Towns Jr., a step-son, Charles Wade Chambers; three sisters, Joyce, Vera and Betty; a brother, Bill Towns; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeremiah Simpson Towns and Margaret Emma Hartfield and one grandchild.
A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the Living Word Baptist Church, with Rev. Donnie Emmons officiating.
