Richard L. Woods

Richard L. Woods, 85, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at The Manor Nursing Facility. Mr. Woods was born November 24, 1929 in Poplar Bluff to Charles Woods and Hazel Belle (Wright) Woods. They both precede him in death. He was a member of Agee Fellowship Church and served on the church Board of Trustees, Building Committee, and served as an usher at Westside Church of God in earlier years. He was a board member of the United Rescue Mission and lifetime member of the Poplar Bluff Gun Club, board member of the Sportsman Association and Friends of Mingo. Mr. Woods retired from Mo. Natural Gas Co. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, gun repair and refinishing and reloading shells. On April 14, 1949 he married Nellie C. Agee Woods in Piggott, Ark. She survives. Other survivors include his children, Ronald Lee Woods (Donna), of Poplar Bluff, Denise Cope (James) also of Poplar Bluff, Randy L. Woods, M.D. (Buffy) of Wappapello and Roger L. Woods M.D. (Barbara) of Jackson, Tn.; two sisters, Imogene Jones (Walter) of Poplar Bluff and Barbara Lemons (Edward) of Kansas City Mo.; and one brother, Paul Woods (Elaine) of Ellsinore, Mo.; 8 grandchildren, David Woods (Kacie), Amy Cope, Lucas Cope, Sierra Woods, Levi Woods, Lyndsey Woods, Drew Woods, and Mason Woods; as well as 3 great-grandchildren, June, Olivia and Holden. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Katherine, Ruth, Alberta, Bill and Walter, and a grandson Kevin Woods. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. The Rev. Jim Schremp will officiate. assisted by James Agee, burial will take place in the Nunn Cemetery in Butler County. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Agee Fellowship Church Steeple Fund,in care of the church, or the Nunn Cemetery in care of the US Bank
