Robert Lee Wallace

Robert Lee Wallace, 65, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away July 29, 2015 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Mr. Wallace was born May 21, 1950, in Poplar Bluff, the late Manuel Wallace and Fannie Mae Matthews-Wallace. He was a Deacon at Morning Star Baptist Church and retired as a Shift Commander from Poplar Bluff City Fire Department. He enjoyed working on lawn mowers and doing auto body work. On August 15, 1970 he married Olivia Jones-Wallace in Poplar Bluff. She survives. Also surviving include his children, Robert L. Wallace Jr. (Mary Ann), Frank Wallace, Shannon Wallace, Spc. Harold Devante Wallace (Elizabeth), Retired Sgt. Buddy Wallace (Bridget), Amanda Jeniece Wallace and a special niece, Chiquita R. Griffin; 5 sisters, Velma Ward, Rose Marie Wallace, Rose Mary Britton, Lilly Mae Mwaniki, and Virginia Barnes; 2 brothers, Gary Wallace and Tony Wallace; 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; special friends of the family, Jocelyn Muldrew and Chasity Boyer; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Wallace was also preceded in death by his sisters, Geneva Culp, Shirley Harden; and brothers, William Wallace, James Wallace, Manuel Wallace, Terry Wallace and George Wallace. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 7, 2015, followed by the funeral service at 12 (noon), at the Mt. Calvary Powerhouse Church, Speedway Drive, Poplar Bluff. The Rev. Andrew Jefferson and Rev. Spencer Jones will officiate. Burial will be in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery. The repass will be held at Wheetly School.
